As a members of the Coffs Free and Open Technology Network we recognise that:
Users of computers have the right to control the technology they own, therefore:
Their software should be free software (as defined by the GNU Project's Free Software Definition)
Their data should be stored and exchanged via file formats and protocols defined by open standards
No single business can meet every user's technology needs, therefore collaboration between businesses is a necessary precondition for a viable IT industry in Coffs Harbour
Members of the Coffs Free and Open Technology Network:
Will not recommend proprietary technology to clients if a functionally equivalent free/open one exists. However members can provide support for proprietary technology if clients are aware of the issues surrounding proprietary technology but nonetheless wish to use it.
Will refer or sub-contract work to other members where necessary to deliver the highest possible standard of service to clients.
Will endeavour to share knowledge with other members in order to contribute to each others' professional development and encourage the development of complimentary skills.
